Raising money for DORCAS
About
DORCAS is a trauma-informed, community-rooted organisation supporting women, girls, and families affected by abuse, particularly Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). We stand alongside Minority Ethnic communities, asylum seekers, and refugees who face discrimination, poverty, trauma, and isolation. Grounded in the principles of safety, empowerment, and dignity, DORCAS delivers a wide range of support services, educational initiatives, and outreach programmes. Our work is focused on healing, protection, and uplifting individuals and communities to live free from harm.
Why
DORCAS is a natural choice for me, as I am deeply committed to equity as a pathway to true equality. FGM is imposed on girls under the guise of tradition and control, denying them autonomy, safety, and fundamental rights. For over 25 years, I have worked to support children and marginalised communities. I am currently the CEO of AboutFace Training, an organisation that advocates for justice, equitable solutions, and amplifies the voices of those who are mistreated and unheard. AboutFace is proud to partner with DORCAS, as we share a common vision and core values challenging discrimination, oppression, and harmful practices, while working to bring justice and enrich the lives of those who are denied societal privilege.
