Raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust
About
To support Teenage Cancer Trust Teenage cancer trust is the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and expert youth support for young people with cancer. We’re here for anyone diagnosed with cancer aged 13-24, and their loved ones too. We fund specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital wards within the NHS, so young people with cancer get the sensitive, individual care and support they need at this unique and critical life stage.
Why
In 2005 I sadly lost my 17year old daughter Sophie Mcgorrigan to a rare brain tumour. As her Mum, I find it hard to put into words what you go through as a family. Without the support of Teenage Cancer Trust, her last year would have been very different.
The unit at Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham gave Sophie wonderful facilities and a safe place to deal with this horrendous journey. It gave Sophie's siblings Jim, Charlie and Georgie a place to visit and feel relaxed with their sister. Friends from sixth form would visit and join her in the TCT common room and give her some normality to her day. Teenagers need this space and I want to support others who have to go on this journey.
