Raising money for QE Brain Tumour Fund
About
Brain tumours are the biggest killer of adults and children under 40 and yet the government provides only 1.5% of government funding for brain tumour research.
We are dedicated to providing funding for brain tumour research, investment in pioneering equipment and support for brain tumour patients and their families.
We work directly with the clinical team at the QE Hospital Birmingham, ensuring every contribution we make, makes a real impact.
To support brain tumour patients and their families we fund a “home from home" just moments from the QE Hospital. We offer a peaceful place to stay for them without the worry of hotel bills and
car parking so they can be near their loved ones in difficult times.
More recently we have also look to fulfil wishes for patients at end of life, when time is most precious, we look to go further—helping to fulfil end-of-life wishes, by creating moments of joy when they matter most.
Because every breakthrough, every family supported, and every final wish fulfilled matters.
Why
In 2003 my 15 year old niece Sophie was diagnosed with a rare and incurable brain tumour and was given two years to live.
She was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and we saw first hand the benefits of excellent care and support for families going through challenging times. Everyone in the family was impacted by the diagnosis, and we saw directly the importance of support for Sophie’s siblings James, Charlie and Georgina too.
This was a difficult journey for Sophie and what she wanted more than anything was to continue to live her ‘ normal Life”. She had the benefits of Teenage Cancer Trust who did everything they could to make this journey easier for her. Sadly despite battling hard, Sophie passed away on December 7th 2005 aged just 17.
Sophie remains at the heart of everything I do.
In her memory, I have chosen to dedicate my time to fundraising for the QE Brain Tumour Fund, supporting vital brain tumour research, pioneering equipment, and care for patients. I have seen firsthand just how crucial this support is.
By working closely with the clinical team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the QE Brain Tumour Fund ensures that funding is directed where it is needed most. This means every contribution is used to make a real, immediate difference for those facing this devastating diagnosis.
